Chaotic mess...
I was celebrating the birthday of one of my floormates with a group of friends. We were all dressed for the occasion as the restaurant is a posh Thai restaurant named Dusit Thai (where the owner once served under Thai Airways catering and knew the birthday boy's father who is the General Manager of Thai Airways, Europe Continent...high class leh).
Anyway, the food was nice, the service superb and the owner decided to put everything on the house including a vintage bottle of chardonnay (Kup Kun Kar, Mr. Owner).
There were eight of us, four guys and four gals. One of the gal drove so we were deciding who would carpool with her. The guys were nice to offer all the seats to the gals and they'll take the bus back. So, us gals were in the car and having some plans for ourselves to go to Burswood Casino. Off we went and while we were there, one of the guys call us and ask where are we (opps...).
When we got back (which is about 1.30am), the guys were there to greet us with a worried expression saying that they were so glad that we were back safely (huh?). All of us were baffled and they told us that they just encountered a serious robbery-turned-gang-fight at the 24/7 McDonalds near the bus stop. They were worried caused we were not back yet and they thought something might have happened to us (so sweet guys).
Then they slowly told us the whole story:
This group of about 30 hooligans which looks very very young (15-17years old) with beer bottles in their hands were chatting, tapping shoulders and drinking (but not drunk) outside McDonalds. Then they started to steal cookies out of the big cookie jars at the McD's cafe which was closed at that time before throwing that huge empty jar onto the cashier and it bounced back, hitting the road, shattering into million of pieces. The customers stood from their place startled and the hooligans grabbed everything that the customers were not holding in their hands like handbags, caps, even bouquet of flowers that were left on the table/floor.
One of them took a bag from this asian girl and her male friend tried to get it back. The hooligans beat him and even his other male friend who came to help was thrown out of the kiosk and beaten up very badly. The McD staffs (2 caucasians and 1 asian guys) armed with brooms and mops, tried to help them and also to get the hooligans out of the kiosk but to no avail as the mob of hooligans swell at them, forcing them to take cover behind the counter. Bottles of beers and anything that could be lifted were thrown at the customers and the staffs. Blood was everywhere.
My friends were trying hard to ignore the whole commotion and prayed that the bus or the police would arrived fast as the mob was all around them and they can't find a way to escape without catching any attention. After a while, the bus finally arrived and they tried to get into the bus as soon as possible but even before they got in, the hooligans threw a beer bottle at the bus and shattered the glass window near the hind seat before they started to bang at the bus. Passengers in the bus were shocked and ran towards the exit but the bus driver stopped them before getting out of the bus to observe the damage done to the bus. All the guys and some other passengers got onto the bus quickly. After shouting at the hooligans, the bus driver got back onto the bus and sped away, even running through the first red light.
The guys finally reached back shakened but safe, which was a relieved.
We gals were lucky to miss the chaotic scene but the guys were extremely lucky to leave the scene unscathed.
So people, be careful when you go out at night especially in the City of Perth, Northbridge and Claremont. If you see a mob from afar, stayed away...if your stuck there like my friends, act ignorant or do whatever that you think that will save your live.
