From seeing flowers to eating sand
Finally found the mood and time to blog bout the trip to Araluen Botanical Park and sandboarding in Lancelin.
Araluen is really nice for a cool and calm getaway, IF you are not going with a bunch of crazy people which in this case I was. There goes the cool and calm trip that turns into noisy laughter, jumping photos and well, just plain things that you don't do in a botanical park filled with mostly elderly people.
Then up came Lancelin (with the same crazy group of people). I wasn't planning to go on this trip as I was supposed to be working but the designated driver/car renter fell sick and I volunteered to take over thus, pushing my work to a later time (gotta love my somewhat flexible working hours).
Two hours drive North and we're there in the sand dunes in the rain! After going through the numerous tips on sandboarding (I was the only one who has sandboarded before among the group), we went down the wet dunes, quite unsuccessfully.
An hour later, the sun came up and dried the dunes up pretty quickly and suddenly, we're really sliding down the dunes like... well, like...erm.... wind, that's it, wind. Eating sand in the process.
Fun, fun, fun and bloody tired... time to sleep... Zzzzzzz
